Rang Mahal
Type:
Restaurant
Location:
The Pan-Pacific Hotel, Singapore
The challenge here was to create a grand, yet elegant, setting for a long established flagship Northern Indian restaurant. Visual cues were taken from traditional Indian culture such as a statue of Ganesh, presiding over a still, reflecting pool and in the restrained metallic touches and reassuringly solid stone blocks. This was then overlaid by the sleek contemporary finish of a timber bridge framed by a textured granite water wall whilst water gently splashes from brass spouts lined up along the perimeter walls. Stylized fish-cage inspired mesh lamps wash the dining room in a warm glow and gold metal mesh screens unobtrusively demarcate spaces.
